One Time Password is an extra code generated by using an application installed on mobile phone/smart phone to provide extra security to login to the system. This method is also known as two factor authentication. Only the person with the correct code can login into the system.
Google Authenticator is used to provide the extra security.
Google Authenticator is a software token that implements two-step verification services.
Authenticator provides a six digit one-time password which users must provide in addition to their username and password to log into the system. Below is an example of a Google Authenticator installed on Android smart phone.
